No. Truck is new to me, and I change oil every 3-4K in old skool engines. Used HM after I got it to see if the seal conditioners would help....they have a little bit, but the main oil burning seems to be blow-by. Main question was how good is the O'Really oil compared to the Valvoline HM....I...
I just got the truck 6 weeks ago....wanted to see if the seal conditioners would help. They have, a little bit. I'm not opposed to using "whatever." I even topped it off with our Delo 400 diesel oil from work one time.
Joe Gibbs Driven available at Summit Racing. I called Joe Gibbs direct and asked for a recommendation for my car and they were very helpful and knowledgeable.
My Chevy burns oil (oooh....shocking, I know....) I stopped at my favorite O'Really's today and got a quart of their 10W-40 HM to top it off. It was cheap. Just wondering if it's a decent oil compared to the Valvoline HM I have in it? The Chev uses 1 quart per 1000 miles....it'd be nice to save...
How many miles does it have? I put in the 5W-40 Euro this weekend and now she puffs oil on startup. I'm sure it's valve seals, but it didn't puff or burn any when I bought it. Of course, I have no idea what oil was in it. It did have a GM filter though. Wondering if the 5W is a little thin on...
Curious about this....what makes it a great recommendation for my ol' American farm truck? I will say that I ran QSFS 5W-30 in my Frontier to replace my beloved Magnatec and that engine loved it. I have respect for the QS stuff now.
What are the better alternatives to MaxLife? I honestly know nothing about high mileage oils....I had just read a lot about ML and most everybody loves it.
My coworker said pretty much the same thing...they're not picky. He said the MaxLife would be fine, 10w30 in the summer, 5w30 in the winter. I haven't yet seen what my cold/hot oil pressure is but the engine is very smooth and quiet (except for the catless exhaust with glass pack!) I do change...
Hello fellow Oilers, my trusty Frontier was totaled in a hail storm up here in Michigan. It's replacement is a rust free, 200k mile 1990 Chevy C1500. It has a very good running 350 TBI. I recently learned that it's a flat tappet engine...I thought all small blocks were roller lifters after 1987...
