Using Porsche C30 instead of C20 in the EA839 engine

Was cleaning out the garage and found ten bottles of 2 year old M1 Euro 0w40, unopened. Thinking I might just use this since I don’t have a GPF? It’s Porsche A40, usually use in my 718 GTS but I just had that oil changed. Might as well use it on this EA839 v6 turbo.

Using Porsche C30 instead of C20 in the EA839 engine

Yeah, price difference is $60 vs $120 so not a big deal either way. Interesting caveat Mobil put: • Mobil 1™ ESP X4 0W-40 can only be used in the vehicles for which it is approved. It is not backward compatible with vehicle engines requiring a C30 or C20. *** It is a C40 oil.

Using Porsche C30 instead of C20 in the EA839 engine

I think the plan is to just run it until 5k miles or if I have an autocross or track day, then switch to a C30 (probably M1 5w30 ESP Euro) before the day.

Using Porsche C30 instead of C20 in the EA839 engine

Yeah I guess the question, is C20 actually not good for the engine?

So seems like the dealer installed ESP X2, probably 0w20? I think I might just run this for every day driving and switch out to M1 ESP Euro 5w30 which is a C30 oil when I think I'm going to thrash it or when I get to 5k miles. Glamour shot for reference:

Seems like M1 ESP 0w40 X4 is the darling right now? Wow, motul is on sale right now: $30 https://eeuroparts.com/product/motul/110905 hmm never mind, shipping kills it.

Using Porsche C30 instead of C20 in the EA839 engine

Had to get another dealer oil change to maintain warranty. Might actually try doing some track days on this Macan S because it has PASM adjustable dampers and I can lower the car with air suspension. Now which oil should I swap it out with or should I just go for it on the M1 ESP x2 0w20? Saw...

Euro specialized indy-mechanics all seem to use LiquiMoly?

I use Ceratec as well, it's good stuff.

Pennzoil Euro L 5w30 vs Euro LX 0w30

Well well well, my jaw just dropped lol. $740 for an oil change on the 718 Boxster GTS $650 for an oil change on the Macan S This is actually more expensive than Socal. I had to double check this wasn't for the full inspection. Porsche indies in the are are quoting around half of that. Guess...

Euro specialized indy-mechanics all seem to use LiquiMoly?

My cars are still under warranty so I usually take them to a Porsche or Euro specialized Indy who reports service to Carfax and documents the change. One thing I noticed is that whenever I ask them what oil they use, it’s always LiquiMoly. Kind of curious but does LiquiMoly just dominate the...

Pennzoil Euro L 5w30 vs Euro LX 0w30

This is for a Macan S using the EA839 engine, it's a Porsche C20 oil recommended but I use C30. I accidentally ordered Euro L 5w30 instead of LX 0w30 which meets C30. How bad is it to just use that? I do changes around 6k miles and never go above 3.5k rpm unless fully warmed up. Euro L 5w30...

Mobil 1 FS X2 Motor Oil

I think the Motul XCess Gen 2 5w40 is probably what I'm going to change to because it has some more flexibility in case I go on a road trip or something. Seems like they made some big improvements on the gen2 with TBN...

Mobil 1 FS X2 Motor Oil

Still under warranty for 2 more years at least so I'll just stick to whatever has A40 for now I guess.
