    New Ravenol USDA BioPreferred® oils

A new line of bio based engine and gear oils have appeared on Ravenol's site. Here's a broad description of these engine oils, as they seem common across them: "[This oil] is a modern, full synthetic fuel-efficent multigrade engine oil based on renewable vegetable raw materials. [This oil] is...

Can the HTFS viscosity be an indicator of oil burning?

Yes. Here's a table I made for Ravenol oils I did mark in red oils that produced weird results from the formulas, not sure why.

Can the HTFS viscosity be an indicator of oil burning?

In the car communities I frequent, many people are on the hunt for the elusive 'unicorn oil'—an oil that doesn't get consumed over the oil change interval (OCI). I've noticed that different brands of oil, even when they share the same viscosity grade, show varying levels of consumption over the...

Do the european emission standards impact catalyst life in oil burners?

It's my opinion that oil burning affecting catalysts and emissions is independant from the Euro rating of that vehicle. From what I gather he meant as long as a car is Euro 3 or above, that oil burning is a non-issue, which I don't agree with.

Do the european emission standards impact catalyst life in oil burners?

I'm from Bulgaria and I'm pretty sure only what is listed in the attached picture is tested for. I'm unsure about the validity of the test, given that CO and HC are literally zero, but it's just an example. .

Do the european emission standards impact catalyst life in oil burners?

I was having a discussion about passing this year's emission testing and the topic of catalyts being damaged by oil burners came up. It was mentioned that as long as a car is Euro 3, oil burning shouldn't matter in passing the test and that using ACEA A/B oils would be fine. Personally, I don't...

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

I have 2 catalytic converters and no DPF. Also a muffler delete if that matters lol.

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

Just found out Ravenol makes TC-W3 oils too and their semi synthetic outboard 2T oil contains esters and PIB! I'll see if I can source it, thanks for the tip.

    ACEA oils and OCIs

I'm pretty sure we have ULSD/ULSG in the EU. I assume the cleaning potential of the oil would basically be the same in that case?

    ACEA oils and OCIs

Generally speaking, how long can the OCI of a Mid or Low SAPS oil be considering the reduced additive pack compared to a Full SAPS A/B oil? For example, given an OCI of around 6000 miles with mixed driving, no more than 1 year, does the SAPS level actually matter? This is considering that the...

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

I could potentially find LUKOIL Outboard 2Т oil, which is basically gas station oil for cheap. It has the TC-W3 approval, it is semi-synthetic and claims "smokeless" in this TDS: https://catalog.lukoil-masla.ru/u/product_document_file/122/tds_lukoil_outboard_2t_v.1.1_16.05.2016_eng.pdf

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

I can't find mentions of "low smoke" of the semi-synthethic outboard oil on their site or the TDS. But I did find an SDS: https://webcdn.intercars.eu/files/057014/outboard%20tech%202t%205l-sds.pdf

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

The two-stroke oil that I could source is from Motul and funnily enough their outboard oil comes in 25% more expensive compared to their bike oil. I'm comparing Motul Outboard Tech 2T to Motul 510 2T. The former is TC-W3 and the latter is JASO FD. If I'm going for outboard oil, is it worth going...

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

Since most discussions about using two-stroke oil as a diesel fuel additive seem positive or neutral, I decided to give it a try. However I can't decide which oil approval would be the best choice or if it matters at all. On BITOG, many people recommend TC-W3 oils, while European forums suggest...

    Castrol Hyspec Oil?

I'm a bit puzzled about this oil's existence and I couldn't find any information about it on here. It's now being sold in my country as "The same great Castrol quality, now in smart bottles". What's so smart about the bottle exactly? On Castrol's site, they say this oil spec is for hybrid...
