Well, teal is a form of green though more bluish-green. I'm not sure if HPL Teal and HPL Green use different dyes. I was referring to the product name. If I had to guess, for HPL Teal they probably mix in the dyes from HPL Blue and HPL Green.
Unfortunately, there was a mix up with the report to the lab in what tests to run and at first they thought it was gear oil and didn't run that test. Then, they didn't have enough sample left to run it.
Actually, re-posting the previous post since they re-ran the sample because the machine was out of calibration. The sample from the sump (right side) and the oil filter (left side) are now much closer. I'm going to take this as a sign that I can just change the oil filter and get an oil sample...
I'm going to run a few shorter OCIs with Mobil 1 0W-40 FS and HPL Engine Cleaner with some Fram Ultra filters I have (mix of old and new), then I'll give HPL a try.
My novice assessment is she was describing the work being that has only recently bore fruit for low viscosity lubricants now starting to finally come out. For me, it helped to put into perspective how the boundary lubrication regime is not necessarily a bad place to be as long as you have the...
I haven't tried a 75w-140 yet since the differential doesn't get that hot, at least from the outside of the case with the temperature sensing adhesive I tried. If things don't improve in a few OCIs (I'm doing some short runs), I'll try that next. My longer term plans is to shorten the OCI to the...
This was FS 0w-40 bought from Walmart. For the engine work, I did spend time steam cleaning, vacuuming, and scrubbing the intake runners to get off all the carbon deposits I could. That probably loosened a lot of other junk. I also vacuumed the air filter box inside, scrubbed it with soap and...
@mt23 What's the process you use to wick the filter media dry? I squeezed mine out and it's not fun.
Never mind, I see it was mentioned earlier in the thread that paper towels with elastic bands were used.
Another thing to note, is my use mode of the car has changed. A lot more short tripping (20-30min at city speeds). Before, it was >70% at highway speeds. Now, I estimate it's around 20-30% of highway use.
