My trusted mechanic says that he doesn't recommend changing the fluid.. I don't like this. Thinking of that black ATF disgusts me. I don't like abusing machinery. But it's shifting fine and I'm going to take his advice for now.

I bought a 2013 Toyota Yaris with 123,000 miles. No maintenance records.. I'm asking whether I should change (not flush) the ATF.). No shifting problems. AFT smells OK. Ugly black color. I'm an old gezzer who drives mostly short trips here is sunny southern California.

The maintenence manual for this little car states the oil change interval for NON-stressed driving is SIX months or 7500 miles. I seems to me that this is excessive. I don't drive much, only 3500 miles a year and I've had to change the oil twice. Unfortunately, I'm an old beat-up guy, a disabled...
