    Coil wire plastic conduit brittle/disiintergrating

I've found overhead cam engines will sound like an exhaust leak with the oil cap off. Always a good tip when doing an oil change.

02 Silverado 5.3L blinking Service engine light

This is a cat converter. It will cause a miss on that bank as the converter clogs. If you had access to misfire Data you would likely see it's the back cylinders, closest to cat, moreso than the front. I've been working on Chevys and Caddys for 16 years, I've seen it before. You will want to be...

Rule of thumb for tightening oil drain plug?

I've found that some cars get a cheap replacement washer that needs replacing each time. Like a fiber gasket. I replaced the washer on my bike as a matter of course. The replacements they gave me were better than stock. Still ok the first one. I just bought a bunch of oil filters for my Honda...

Where do you buy your car parts?.,,

It depends for me. If it's electrical (sensors, ECUs, the like) I go strictly OEM. I prefer factory brake pads for a few reasons. Other than that, I'll go to the big three chains. I've found a few online places that are dealers and sell stuff cheap. If it's not exhorbinant, I'll go that route.

    What causes engine oil leaks?

Depends on the engine. Yes, age of the material can be a factor. Heat cycling, poor design, improper assembly, faulty PCV system. There could be numerous reasons. The Ford 5.0 liters would commonly leak due to the aforementioned faulty PCV system. The valve was behind the intake and it would...

Cryo treatment and barrier coatings? (thermal etc)

While anecdotal at best my friend had every rotating item contact surface in his Hayabusa engine treated with a coating that was supposed to reduce friction. He had the bike dynoed before and after treatment. There was an improvement in dump numbers and at the track in trap speeds and times...

How to do coolant flush(distilled h2o) Buick lac?

Dex-cool is rated for use up to 100,000 miles. After that, it just doesn't protect as well. Dex-cool got a bad rap initially because of the sludge. The sludge is a side effect of a leak. In other words, as the leak continues it will decrease the level in the system, obviously. As that happens...

    Rubber-like epoxy

On the Cadillac XTSs the air intake tube splits after some mileage. If the customer wants to take the car back until parts arrive I have used the gray GM engine sealant with great luck. You just have to be sure the area is clean. Otherwise it won't hold.
