Watching Lake Speed Jr. YouTube video on Mobil 1 0W-40, I am wondering why he does not recommend it for Direct Injection engines, when my car manufacturer does who uses nothing but Mobil as a factory fill and so does Mobil.

Where did you read that? What site? Look I have been around the internet for a long time and there is one thing that was obvious to me, the internet is ths greatest source of unconfirmed information. And for that reason, I like to list sources. I also came from working in a lab for over 20 years.

Curiosity, because so-called experts like Lake says on thing and others on this forum say something else. Its not a use or do not use question. Critical, it isn't as it is the oil spec my car calls for.

And that is why I asked the Help Desk to get an answer from an engineer who deals with 0W-40 to get back to her. A couple of emails went back and forth. If it stands for something else, please provide manufacturer documentation.

Time to lock any oil thread or forum, if that is the case. I just use what is recommended in the Owner's Manual and have never had a problem in 50 years of vehicle ownership, yet people go to forums asking for recommendations from others that apparently know more than the manufacturer.

Yes I saw that, but then aren't all Mobil oils a Synthetic? So what exactly is a Full Synthetic. Anyway, not worried about the oil as I have never had an oil related failure in almost 50 years. Just wondered about the FS and what it stood for. I'm always skeptical about what I read on forums...
