Do you short-shift your manual transmission vehicle?

With my 2017 Accord EX-L V-6/6MT I often skip gears going downhill, on occasion I'll skip two depending on the grade. Sometimes I'll skip a gear if accelerating briskly but not wanting to drive aggressively (which I never do at my age!). Driving my '95 Civic... almost never skip.

How often do you wash your car in an automatic car wash?

Some years back I ran my '95 Civic through the local car wash a few times, but that is it. My 2017 Accord EX-L V-6/6MT has only been hand-washed by myself, mostly with rinseless washes. The Honda dealer gave me free car wash cards when I used to take the Accord in for an oil change, but there is...

    Who uses microfiber towels?

I use microfiber all the time. The Rag Company's Double Twistress for drying (also have the Gauntlet but haven't tried it yet), Spectrum 420 for interior, Diamond Weave for windows, and a large number of other towels from them because microfiber is just plain cool IMO. The cheap Costco towels...

Detail and Wax - Top Picks and Favorites Of Members On BITOG

My current exterior maintenance routine for my 2017 Accord consists of Optimum No Rinse for rinseless washing and P&S Bead Maker as a drying agent. Protection: two coats of Jescar Power Lock+, one coat of Optimum Spray Wax and a final liberal spray/wipe of P&S Bead Maker the following day. My...

The first HDEO engine oil you bought?

Delo 400. I still think it is one of the best non-synthetic oils out there.

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

My '95 Honda Civic has over 208,000 miles on it. I've ran synthetic oil pretty much from day one when I bought it in 2003 with about 37K on the clock. I started with Mobil 1 and then switched to AMSOIL. I've used dino oil in the past as a flush for Auto-Rx but that is it. Had to replace the...

    Removing existing waxes & sealants

I think it depends a lot on the brand of sealant. There are some YouTube videos showing durability comparisons using various chemicals such as diluted IPA and others. One of my favorite YT channels, Apex Detail, mentions using either Citrol 266 or Eastwood's Pre Painting Prep wax & grease...

    Wax / Sealer Recommendations

There are more products and opinions of waxes/sealers than grains of sand on the beach. That said, I've had good success with Collinite 476S paste wax on my '95 Civic. I've used Optimum Spray Wax and P&S Bead Maker as a topper/drying agent on my 2017 Accord, the Bead Maker is incredible WRT...

What if any is your favorite cologne?

I rarely wear cologne, but my favorite is either St. John's or Burt's Bees Bay Rum (the latter discontinued, sadly).

    What's a good all-around wax that's durable?

For paste wax, Collinite 476s is pretty hard to beat IMO- inexpensive and durable. The Collinite 845 wax as mentioned above is the liquid equivalent AFAIK.

There are more auto care products on the market today than Carter has pills (showin' my age there). But here is what I'm using in 2019 for either my 2017 Accord EX-L V-6 MT (A) or my '95 Civic (C), or both (B), for what it's worth: * Wash: Optimum No-Rinse (B). Once in a blue moon I'll use...

    Milk: do you drink it?

I used to drink whole milk but I had some heart issues earlier this year and my cholesterol numbers were written in scientific notation, so I switched to 2%. I definitely drink more milk in the summer versus winter months.
