No shortage of filters at my local Walmart in Western PA. They even have the PF63’s on the shelf for my Sierra. That’s rare here. I typically use the ACDelco or Mobil 1 Extended Performance filters. Especially when the Mobil 1 is on sale.
My sons ‘20 GMC Terrain, 2.0 Turbo takes 5W-30. Would love to use one oil for both, so maybe next round of oil changes we’ll give Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 a try for both vehicles.
All these specs and certifications and gobbly goops can get so confusing. I’ve been seeing so much talk about Mobil 1 ESP and its greatness and was curious about running it in my 2018 GM 5.3. So, I reached out to Mobil 1 and asked them and was told that it was “not recommended” since it holds...
2018 GMC Sierra, 5.3 w/ 97,400 miles.
Out: Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W-20, Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter
In: Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-30, Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter
I typically do 5k mile oil changes, even with the extended drain oils like Mobil 1 Extended...
Noticed the other day that Mobil 1 changed the data sheet for Extended Performance 0W-20 and the 100KV is at 8.3 now instead of 8.8.
8.8 one day and 8.3 the next. What a difference a day makes. ;)
Just now swapped my 2018 GMC Sierra’s original OE ACDelco rotors for NAPA Adaptive One Truck & SUV. I can’t feel my back anymore. ;)
95K miles on the truck and the OE did pretty good (I think) with our western PA weather and overly salted roads. I replaced the OE pads about 40k miles ago but...
Would love to see I pic too! My 1st new car was a ‘91 Civic DX hatchback. Same color red too. Radio, A/C and digital clock were optional. 😂
Great little car that served me well. It was dream to be an SI owner.
So what’s the consensus on Castrol GTX Full Synthetic for short(ish) OCI’s? I see this on sale all the time at good prices and was thinking of giving it a go.
I typically use Valvoline Advanced in my 2018 GMC Sierra 5.3 GDI with 5k mile oil changes. I short trip during the week maybe 5-10 miles...
My 2018 Sierra 5.3 takes 8 qts, so I’d need two boxes just like I would with any other plastic 5 quart jugs. Without the clear window running down the entire side of the box to get the last 2 quarts in, it might be too much of a pain to deal with. But for my son’s 2020 Terrain which takes 6...
Thanks 👍🏻
I was under the impression that Havoline was making Lifelong available only at Walmart, similar to Quaker State and their Ultimate Protection line.
I thought this was a Walmart exclusive oil but I noticed today that Havoline Lifelong is on Amazon too. I don’t typically buy oil from Amazon but thought I’d ask all you experts here if you’ve got any news on this not being a Walmart exclusive anymore?
2018 GMC Sierra, 91,641miles. This OCI will be at 4,345. Doing this tomorrow when it’ll be a little warmer out
Out - Valvoline Advanced 0w-20, ACDelco PF63 filter
In - Valvoline Advanced 0w-20, ACDelco PF63 filter
I was going to mix it up and go with the Valvoline Extended Protection but...
I just wanted a “cpupton” post to follow an “supton” post. ;)
Actually this was an excellent question and often wondered that myself. I had my transmission go out at 77k miles on my GMC Sierra and few weeks ago. Out of warranty but I reached out to GM anyway. They are going to pony up about 10%...
