2EHA is a plasticizer, but that is a good thing. It doesn't destroy plastic, but rather preserves and conditions it. Your plastic parts won't crack, craze, dry rot or deform when a 2EHA coolant is used.
The formula change was covered in another recent thread, but I want to mention this is a step forward, not the opposite. 2EHA is an absolutely superb corrosion inhibitor and is perfectly fine in Asian vehicles. Notice the service life of the old formula was 5 year/150k? Take a look at it now...
That's not true at all. Take a look at used car prices nowdays, they're really high for anything decent. Not that far from buying a new car.
Even if you spend $1000 on parts, it's totally worth it. Just tell yourself it's going to take about 2 weeks to do at home, watch some Youtube videos...
Why are you changing the coolant on a 2 year old truck? Unless it's been somehow contaminated, leave it be. I wouldn't change from Dexcool to the universal stuff, especially if the truck is still under warranty. Leave it be.
This is all you need to know.
2EHA is the holy grail of cooling system inhibitors. 2EHA's plasticizing attributes doesn't destroy gaskets, but rather it preserves and conditions them. It keeps the most fragile parts in a cooling system from cracking, deforming and leaking. Consider it an...
G40 is definitely a step down from Prestone AMAM or even just plain Dexcool. Those nasty silicates will coat your cooling system passages and that creates a thermal blanket that will reduce heat transfer anywhere from 7 to about 14%. The is nothing wrong with Dexcool, it's inaccurately blamed...
Agreed, your best bet is to use a universal extended life house brand coolant like Supertech, Autozone's Shop Pro or Napa 1EXT. They're proven to protect anything and everything and I've been using them for almost 20 years now in numerous makes/models with absolutely no issues whatsoever. Yes...
Timing belt is difficult and not to mention, a lot of liability for doing a friend a favor. Even if you do a perfect job, if there is something defective in one of the timing belt components that isn't visible and something fails down the road, it could destroy the engine and your friend may...
On these EJ25 engines, head gasket replacement is practically routine maintenance. They all blow eventually. And once you replace them, they don't stay fixed forever, regardless of what others say. It's just a matter of time, but the same symptoms will return at some point. On a poorly done...
As a long time Suby enthusiast that has done a lot of work on these EJ25 engines, I would suggest changing the thermostat to either OEM or Tama as something you could try. But honestly, this sounds like a blown head gasket. These engines are extremely easy to bleed, it takes almost no effort...
Do not waste your money buying Final Charge Global, there is really no need.
Simply use the cheapest house-brand universal extended life (Dexclone) coolant you can find. Walmart Supertech, Autozone's Shop Pro or Napa 1EXT when it's on sale (like right now) are all fine choices. I know it's...
You're trying to find a problem that doesn't exist here, nothing is wrong, continue to do as you've done with the Supertech or any other cheap universal extended life coolant.
You don't need SCAs, that stuff is old, obsolete technology and it's garbage. It just coats the entire cooling system...
You don't need to change anything, what you're doing is just fine. Dexclones like the Supertech, O'Reilly and other cheap house brands (I'm running Napa 1EXT at the moment in everything I service) cover it all. These are based on Dexcool and GM uses it in all engines, including light/medium...
