    Microgard Select MSA81025

Oh gosh, thanks for taking the time. The reason I asked is my Honda Civic has a Fram air filter from 2015 (yes, it's been in use 11 years and it's still not that dirty) and it's a green color and says made in Korea. It looks much higher quality than the white color Fram air filters that have...

    Best air filters these days?

Try looking inside the clean side of the air intake with a bright flashlight. Swipe your finger in there, is it clean?

    Microgard Select MSA81025

The label on the box says see product for country origin. Could you please check where these are from?

    I bought a 2017 Lincoln Navigator L

Coolant is looking really dark in the photos of the reservoir. Did you get a chance to open the cap and look inside?

Are there limits to the applicability of Nitrite-free red ELC?

2EHA is a plasticizer, but that is a good thing. It doesn't destroy plastic, but rather preserves and conditions it. Your plastic parts won't crack, craze, dry rot or deform when a 2EHA coolant is used.

Are there limits to the applicability of Nitrite-free red ELC?

That's great news! 2EHA is an awesome corrosion inhibitor and highly desirable. You will be well served by those coolants. 2EHA for the win!

Does Peak OET Asian Red have 2EHA now?

The formula change was covered in another recent thread, but I want to mention this is a step forward, not the opposite. 2EHA is an absolutely superb corrosion inhibitor and is perfectly fine in Asian vehicles. Notice the service life of the old formula was 5 year/150k? Take a look at it now...

Overheating, what makes a Subaru a Subaru!

That's not true at all. Take a look at used car prices nowdays, they're really high for anything decent. Not that far from buying a new car. Even if you spend $1000 on parts, it's totally worth it. Just tell yourself it's going to take about 2 weeks to do at home, watch some Youtube videos...

NuFinish, the non-ceramic version. Available at Walmart for like $10. You'll be very pleased.

    Valvoline multi-vehicle

Why are you changing the coolant on a 2 year old truck? Unless it's been somehow contaminated, leave it be. I wouldn't change from Dexcool to the universal stuff, especially if the truck is still under warranty. Leave it be.

    dexcool in rusty engine

This is all you need to know. 2EHA is the holy grail of cooling system inhibitors. 2EHA's plasticizing attributes doesn't destroy gaskets, but rather it preserves and conditions them. It keeps the most fragile parts in a cooling system from cracking, deforming and leaking. Consider it an...

Zerex G40 European Coolant in a GM 4.3 Vortec

G40 is definitely a step down from Prestone AMAM or even just plain Dexcool. Those nasty silicates will coat your cooling system passages and that creates a thermal blanket that will reduce heat transfer anywhere from 7 to about 14%. The is nothing wrong with Dexcool, it's inaccurately blamed...

Ideal Coolant - Older Toyota Engine

Agreed, your best bet is to use a universal extended life house brand coolant like Supertech, Autozone's Shop Pro or Napa 1EXT. They're proven to protect anything and everything and I've been using them for almost 20 years now in numerous makes/models with absolutely no issues whatsoever. Yes...

Low Coolant, Wrong Coolant, Plus a Coolant Leak - 2001 Tundra

Timing belt is difficult and not to mention, a lot of liability for doing a friend a favor. Even if you do a perfect job, if there is something defective in one of the timing belt components that isn't visible and something fails down the road, it could destroy the engine and your friend may...

Difficulty bleeding coolant, possibly because it's too cold outside

On these EJ25 engines, head gasket replacement is practically routine maintenance. They all blow eventually. And once you replace them, they don't stay fixed forever, regardless of what others say. It's just a matter of time, but the same symptoms will return at some point. On a poorly done...
