    Valvoline Restore & Protect

As for me, I plan on living vicariously through Glenda W. 😄 Anxiously awaiting the results of G.W's test moving from VRP to ESP 0w-30. If the results are as I expect, I will follow suit. Been on VRP for 3 OCI's. Likely switch to ESP. Waiting for the resuls🍿from Glenda W.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I realize there is now 130+ pages on this now. But keep in mind. It can take 3 or more oil change intervals (OCI) before consumption is significantly reduced (supposing the consumption is caused by ring deposits)

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Well, depending on how one defines "better". VRP will do a better job at cleaning the crankcase and piston deposits. As noted, many people have significantly reduced consumption using VRP. 1 qt per 5k isn't bad, but I'm of the opinion that, 1qt going through the CAT is not a good thing. The...

Living near Austin TX. Considering a move to TX.

Unfortunately the same is true here. Average time on the market was 80 days when we listed. Now it's 107 days. So we're waiting til our house sells, then we're heading back to my birthplace.

We have narrowed it down. It will be in the greater Austin area.

I got a free VRP oil change at walmart today 😃

So WalMart did the oil change in the Avalon with Valvoline Restore and protect with a Fram Synthetic Endurance filter. It's been a few weeks, and no leaks or issues. I'll admit, it's kinda nice not changing the oil myself. And not having to do the least favorite part of DIY changes... taking...

    Costco Tire Balance issue

Nothing against Costco, perhaps they just got a bad batch of weights with poor adhesive and it fell off. Either way, my issue is resolved.

    Costco Tire Balance issue

Did the walk-in at DT. Took just under an hour. I explained the situation, apologized for cheating on them with Costco. (been a long time customer) I asked them to check current status and let me know. They performed the roadforce and balance. Roadforce was good, Balance was off on RR and...

    Costco Tire Balance issue

Im not sure what the SOP is for a balance, do they remove all weights and start from scratch, or do they put the tire as-is on the machine, check current balance and adjust from there? If they check first, maybe they can let me know the as-is" status. So check the balance and tell me, all is...

    Costco Tire Balance issue

Thanks, RF is cheaper than I thought. I think a regular balance is about $50 for all 4. I think the Michelin CC2's are directional, so I can swap fron to rear, but not cross rotate in my garage

I will look into roadforce, I'm familiar with it, but years ago, it was kinda speedy. I thought I'd get the 2nd opinion (have DT check regular balance) and if they balance according to the machine and I still have vibrations, ill inquire about RF

    Costco Tire Balance issue

@Dr Oldz, good questions/suggestions Wheels are OE xc70 wheels, mating surfaces are clean, replaced rear pads/rotors, checked front, and thoroughly cleaned hub and wheel with soft wire-wheel. @Marcozi, Good point, I will check torque with my torque wrench. I didn't think to check torque as...

    Costco Tire Balance issue

I had an alignment shortly after buyinh the car just over a year ago, then again a few months ago when I had an indy euro shop replace the rear axle shaft. They did a full inspection and only the rear shaft boot was noted. They put in genuine Volvo shaft

It is definitely shop dependant. Of the 2 DT stores, one is great, but the other is much less favorable.

    Costco Tire Balance issue

The Avalon got the same tires from Costco a few months ago and are smooth and quiet. Haven't gotten enough miles for their first rotation yet. Costco is great, but being the only one for miles, they are always busy, and the tire center swamped.
