MB recommendation is 16,000 km, but I've never had UOA done on it.

I copy that I'll have less soot coming from the EGR, I'm just worried about the soot I'm generating in the cylinder. I have been using Mobil 1 European formula, but its safety data sheet doesn't mention calcium, which got me wondering if a HD oil might better suit my application.

I have no idea. It seems to be pretty common. The engine was swapped into an older vehicle with just a pipe and a muffler behind the turbo. The EGR did fall off in all the buzz. Thanks, I will look at those. I hope soot is reduced in the crank case. There's no shortage of it out the tailpipe...
