The only fair comparison should be between Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Mobil 1 Annual Protection. Then the question would be which is better if both are DEXOS approved with similar max mileage of 25,000 mile and 20,000 mile rating respectively ?
Due to Middle East oil supply challenges resulting in oil formula changes : Are North American consumers now getting a lessor quality oil than before Feb. from Mobil , Pennzoil , Valvoline , Castrol , Quaker State , etc. ?
What OCI’s are you running (i.e. 5,000 miles / 6 months) with Valvoline Restore and Protect ? Also your driving conditions - city / suburb mix or mostly interstate / highway driving ?
Mobil 1 ESP rated for approx. 12K miles max while Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Mobil 1 Advanced Clean show max mileage on the jug. My Hyundai 2.4L Sonata GDI engine will never see those long OCI’s due to soot and fuel dilution.
Are Mobil 1 ESP , Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Mobil 1 Advanced Clean oils on the same level for cleaning , preventing new deposits and lastly wear protection ? * If you drive American Japanese or Korean vehicles - which would you pick from the Mobil line up for 5W30 or 0W30 or possibly...
I posted some time back in UOA section - as I recall Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W20 wear metals were within limits but TBN was low at 4K miles . The Hyundai 2.4L HDI engine was not a good candidate to run on 20 weight oil to appease CAFE nor was it an engine suited for longer drains...
Have to say though that there are much better products that Rem Oil for firearms lube : CLP, Lucas Extreme, FP10, MPro-7and SLIP 2000 to name a few . I used Rem Oil to spray on a new recoil spring assemblies as it is light and fairly slick for that purpose but is gone after 50 rounds.
Along with Valvoline Restore and Protect usage are Microgard oil filters , top tier fuel , clean PCV valve , no engine lugging and 5 K mile max OCI’s or 6 months (which ever comes first).
I did a UOA at 4K miles with Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W20 and the oil was spent. I switched to 5W30 (mainly Mobil 1 versions) and use 4K miles as my base line OCI now. I do like Valvoline Restore and Protect in this engine and I like the low wear numbers it puts up. However, I like M-...
