Not sure, but you have a pre and post O2 sensor, then a single catalyst brick in each manifold.
The catalyst bricks are close to $1000 each
Would the use of a higher zinc and phosphorus damage the catalyst in the short term ? I highly doubt it, but I'm sure if you have a warranty claim they're...
Yes, it's on the approved NMMA catalyst approved oils.
Another oil I'm thinking of using in my engines is Amsoil XL 10w-40, but rumor has it that Amsoil is coming out with a Catalyst approved marine oil.
I've used the regular marine 10-40 from amsoil, but way too much zinc and phosphorus in...
Car 54,
I had a quart of virgin Merc 20w-40 analyzed by Oil Analyzers in Nov 2012 for comparison between the two companies.
Iron - 1
Silicon - 2
Sodium - 35
Potassium - 8
Moly - 10
Boron - 1
Magnesium - 19
Calcium - 1959
Phosphorus - 681
Zinc - 776
Viscosity @ 100c - 13.8
I posted a VOA for the Volvo 10w-40 a few months ago.
The Merc oil is made by Citgo.
The 30 weight catalyst oil by Volvo was an Amsoil product. But unknown who makes their 40 wt oil today.
Both Merc and Volvo only care about the life of the catalyst during the warranty period and that's...
I've only done the 1x drain and fill on my 1997 Civic and have 190,000 miles with zero problems...
I was told years ago that Honda doesn't recommend a "flush" and the best thing is a drain and fill.
Even if you're transmission holds 7.6 quarts, all you will get by draining is around 3 quarts...
With the newer marine engines as of approx. 2008, both Volvo Penta and Mercury Marine have specified "catalyst" oils.
Did a VOA from Oil Analyzers on a virgin sample of Volvo Penta 10w-40 Marine Oil.
I know the main purpose of these oils is to protect the cat, o2 sensors, etc for the...
I would like to know the differences between the two products for use in a gas engine? From what I've read on the forum, both products get excellent reviews.
Thank you!
Hi,
I was wondering what the pro/cons would be to use Ethanol Free Premium Unleaded gas in my 2007 Suburban. Was wondering if I would see a rise of MPG to cover the cost of the fuel?
Thanks!
I posted this on the Boat Section, but no response.
What about using the Series 2000 20w-50 for marine application? Amsoil said it would work, but may not be the best choice.
I will post a full data sheet IF/WHEN I ever get one from VP. They haven't responded yet.
It looks like the WCT is thicker than ACD, but both look like excellent oil. I see that the WCF is a replacement for the Merc. 25w-40. WCF blows that oil out of the water.
Will post anything that I find...
I don't have a link, but this is what I find very interesting.
- Product Names For Both on MSDS are identical.
- Flash Point of 446F for both oils.
- Freezing Point is -33 for both oils.
- Viscosity of 66.3 @ 40C for both oils.
This is all that I have to go by for now. Just find it tooooo...
Posted this in the Boating Forum also, but thought it might get a few more eyes looking at the post !
Hope one of the Amsoil reps. could shed some light on this.
I downloaded both MSDS sheets and the specs. are identical.
Does anyone know if Amsoil makes the oil for Volvo Penta and Volvo...
I hope one of the Amsoil reps. could shed some light on this. I downloaded both MSDS sheets and the values on some of the specs. are identical.
Does anyone know if Amsoil makes the oil for Volvo and they package it?
Wondering then what the differences are between ACD and WCT would be...
