I agree that ideally a full purge is the best option, but I've been doing a "turkey baster" (actually a siphon off and replace) for many years and had no problems so far - 10 year old vehicle (GM w/ ABS VI.) No air gets introduced as long as you don't touch the brake pedal while the m-c is empty.

I use it, and it works ('03 Impala) but... by comparison to my other vehicle which is on a schedule (no OLM), I find there's more buidup in the pcv valve. Other vehicle has the same engine, only with more miles so it's a decent side-by-side comparison.
