    160F vs 195F thermostat

Ample reason to swap it out for OEM 195 here. Thank you all. I went to change it today and the two bolts for the gooseneck are over-tightened or rusted in place or both. Having broken a few 3/8" bolts over the years, these are definitely candidates. The half-inch drive ratchet says these are...

    160F vs 195F thermostat

1993 5.7 TBI Chevy 2500 a little over 202K miles. Looking at the temperature gauge it seems like there is probably a 160 degree T-stat installed. Looking at the stock specs it calls for a 195 as OEM. What are the possible advantages or disadvantages of each?

    5.7 Chevy Engine Questions

Follow-up report: NAPA Gold 1061 filter with the drain back valve helped greatly. It still makes some knocking noises at cold startup but nowhere near as bad as before. With fresh NAPA store brand (formulated by Valvoline) 10w-30, the factory gauge is showing 35 psi at operating temperature...

    5.7 Chevy Engine Questions

Gauge says 30 psi at highway speeds, operating temperature. No idea if gauge is accurate. Just bought it. It has a bit of a knock at cold startup that goes away quickly and it feels a little more like a 4.8 going up hills but it runs fairly well for its age. I will try a 10w-40 and a new...

    5.7 Chevy Engine Questions

1994 Chevy 2500 with 202,785 miles. What should the oil pressure be at operating temperature highway speeds? What's a good oil to run in an engine of this type and age?

Yes -- B3500 with an unusual build, it has 5/8" lug studs.

    Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse HT

Took the ten year old Primewell Valeras off and put a new set of Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse HT tires on the 1996 Dodge today. Took very little weight to balance and that van feels more stuck to the road, more predictably responsive, and far more stable on the highway. Didn't see any reviews...

'96 Dodge B3500 ... Any Idea What This Button Does?

This vehicle doesn't have a tach so it's all a guess until I get used to this new-to-me feature. Is it best to engage this switch (turn OD off) if it feels a little sluggish under load, or going uphill, or when a little more engine braking is needed going downhill?

Got it and thank you. That makes this much easier.

    Source Of Supply For Wheels

Thank you. That would explain the wheels that are on there. I'm finding an OEM part number 5DB85P4A which comes up on aftermarket websites as dual rear wheels. This is the single rear wheels passenger van, so I'm wondering if maybe the rear axle is a little wider to make up the difference...

    Source Of Supply For Wheels

It turns out the wheels that are on this 1996 Dodge B3500 are not the right ones -- the center hole was just slightly too small and now deformed enough such that balancing is difficult, and the counterbore for the conical lug nuts doesn't match the nuts so there isn't much bearing surface...
