I have been running m10w40 in my Toyota trucks and 4 runners since 2017. Current truck is a 2018 and has 93k miles on it and runs strong with no noises.
In the arctic in 30 below weather at work we ran 5w40 synthetic Chevron Delo in our gm 6.6 liter engines, no issues.
I would go to 10 and test. 12 should be doable. Get a topside oil change tool. Makes the oil change easier and cleaner. I just uses a small plastic storage in my hand tub to change the filter. Most topsiders are great for storing the oil until you can run to a parts store to dump.
My thoughts are that VRP is just good oil. If you prioritize clean engines and rings why not run it? This is the quality that BITOG forum members have wanted for as long as it has been around. auto RX- and an affinity to ester containing engine oils prove this.
