High temp exhaust coating a cat converter (exterior) ok?

I think you read too fast, ease up on the caffeine =) Most direct-fit options do not come with a heat shield and I'm talking about the catalytic converter. You obviously cannot spray anything inside the cats nor drill holes. Thanks for the weld advice though brotha!

High temp exhaust coating a cat converter (exterior) ok?

Hello BITOGers, I am getting a CARB cat since I've had a frequently occurring P0420 code pop up on a OBD scan gauge. No hard CEL sets though. Is it beneficial or detrimental to exhaust coat a cat for corrosion prevention and limit heat radiating into cabin? Most direct-fit cats do not have a...

    198K Gen2 - 2004 Honda CRV (K24) Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic diet.

Yep, long overdue. I think they're supposed to be checked/adjusted at the 100K mark. I feel like a bad owner, live and learn.

    198K Gen2 - 2004 Honda CRV (K24) Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic diet.

I have been using Purolator Boss filters for a long while now. Before it was mainly Frams with the textured grips for easy R&R.

    198K Gen2 - 2004 Honda CRV (K24) Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic diet.

not that I am aware of, I check periodically and oil appears at/near the top hole after a wipe check. There were the typical oil leak points which I addressed recently though.

    198K Gen2 - 2004 Honda CRV (K24) Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic diet.

198K miles when these photos were taken. 5-6K OCIs with Mobil 1 5w20 synthetic for as far back as I can remember. I am now at approx 203k but switched to Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w20. Not too shabby eh? Denso IK20TT plugs were used at 175k miles with no issues but I did switch to fresh NGK...

McKay Brake cylinder assy lube or red rubber grease?

Hi there, Has anyone used both Mckay (looks like it's been rebranded to Mechanics?) brake cylinder assembly lube and red rubber grease? Just wondering which product is better for coating the steel pistons and rubber dust boots and square cut seal with for install and rust inhibition.

Original Total Quartz 10W-60 same as Total Quartz Ineo 10W-60?

My basic understanding (please correct me if wrong) is that full SAPS = better protection but at the expense of potentially fouling the cats. This is assuming that your engine is burning/consuming oil?

Original Total Quartz 10W-60 same as Total Quartz Ineo 10W-60?

I appreciate the info. The engine the oil will be going in is a naturally aspirated BMW S54B32 from 2002. Which is preferred, full or mid/low SAPs?

Original Total Quartz 10W-60 same as Total Quartz Ineo 10W-60?

Hello BITOGers, I was about to purchase some Total Quartz 10W-60 but then I saw that they offer the original and a new bottle under the Ineo line. Both are "M car approved" but the new one has additional approvals, namely API CF and ACEA C3. Does anyone know if they are the same formula...
