Oil Recommendations for Highest Wear Protection

Since this is a recent purchase, is there a warranty involved? If so, I would advise you to stick with whatever is prescribed in the owners manual until the warranty has expired. Even the aftermarket policies will balk at paying for repairs on a motor they perceive to be "improperly maintained"...

    Fram FD16 cut open

Champion ecore filters have a nylon plastic center core cage, this filter has the old style steel center core of the original extra guard. The fact that it has a nitrile style ADBV, indicates that this is a clone of an older extra guard design.

First time Motorcraft filter user.. Your thoughts.

Made by Purolator. If you were happy with Purolator before, you should be equally satisfied with the Motorcraft version.

    Car Ramp Recommendation?

Rhino makes a set with 16,000 lb capacity for full size SUVs and pickups. They have a slightly higher lift, which means they have a slightly steeper ramp angle. My old Hyundai Sonata would just barely clear the chin spoiler, but my CRV and RAM pickup have had no problem. Your vehicle list should...

2017 Honda CRV w/ black oil

Instead of saying "2017 Honda CRV purchased last winter with 5,000 on the odometer". I should have said "2017 Honda CRV purchased NEW last winter with 5,000 NOW on the odometer." This is first oil change from the factory fill. According to the dealer, break-in oil was 0W-20 synthetic blend. The...

2017 Honda CRV w/ black oil

2017 Honda CRV purchased last winter with 5,000 on the odometer. Changed the oil first time using Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 with a new Honda -A01 filter (the Filtech version). As I usually do, I drove the car around the block and back up on the ramps to check for leaks. Everything looked good...
