Forget Zeibart, that tar based product will only lock moisture in. I found that out the hard way. Oiling is the only way this to stop the rust spread, if you want to go cheap, chain saw bar oil, has a tackfier for retention. If you want to spend, use fluid film or Wollwax

So changing the rear o2 seems to have fixed this code. I would not have believed it, but here we are.

Exactly, that is not major rust by northern standards, and we are not looking to do a full restoration. Scrap off the loose rust and oil it. Move on

I wish I had. The sample sat undesturbed for 2 yrs and I poured what I needed into the sample bottled and mailed it off. Later when I poured out what was left, a nice black sediment layer was left behind

Here is the reply: We can certainly still test that sample, If you could just make a note about it being in a plastic container for a couple of years, that might help us account for any unusual contamination that might turn up. Still, if you kept it sealed over that time, it should test...
