    Carlube engine oil

It’s a cheap oil sold by car parts retailers like EuroCarParts and others Produced by Tetrosyl. I would only use it as top up to get home if my oil light came on and that was the only thing I could buy. There are far better oils out there and any saving is negligible

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

A But BMW Australia spec LL04 and not LL01 Have you advised BMW Australia of their mistake yet? As they should clearly be running the same oil specs a the USA. 0W12 isn’t it for the newer models?

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

Yeah, I think you will find they don’t copy the USA. They do use Euro emissions standards. Having adopted Euro 6 for diesels at the same time as the UK/EU

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

Nothing says in the article that it doesn’t But BMW say his vehicles is specced for LL04 which would make me suspect that it has a GPF. Why do you think BMW have not specced it with LL01? I think it’s because it’s got a GPF Looking forward to your opinion

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

As DJ Khalid would say “Another one” https://www.drive.com.au/news/what-is-a-petrol-particulate-filter-and-which-cars-have-them-in-australia/ This article specifically addresses the subject of GPFs in Australian market cars. And despite people focussed on sulphur content rather than vehicle...

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

But do they have GPFs? If they do then it’s LL04 not LL01

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

Fuel quality is irrelevant I was talking about if a GPF is fitted. If it is then LL04 is the correct oil choice, not LL01 And since BMW Australia say use LL04 I would say they have GPFs Online sources suggest Australian market BMWs have had GPFs since around the same time as UK/EU vehicles...

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

I am assuming Australia has a GPF fitted. As I said previously, their emissions requirements are usually very similar to the UK/EU

    2025 BMW M60i (S68 Engine) LL-01 vs LL-01 FE

I am going back to 5w40 LL04 in my B58 engined 7 Series I see no benefit in 0w30 My previous oil change was 5w40 and over several thousand miles I saw a slight improvement in fuel economy over the BMW 0w30, didn’t think anything of it. Last oil change was at BMW again, with 0w30 Over the...

BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

What makes you suspect BMW Australia have recommended the wrong oil? Personally I would stick with LL04 Does your vehicle have a GPF? Nearly all larger engines BMWs in Europe had a GPF. And historically emissions requirements in Australia seem to be very similar to those in Europe.

    BMW 0W12

The B58 fitted to the G11/G12 745 PHEV has always had a GPF in Europe. Interestingly the 2024 760e also uses a B58 and that’s still specced for 0w20 using the Online Shell Checker, I would assume it has the TU2 engine. Though the Shell Lubematch doesn’t actually list all the BMW specced oils...

    BMW 0W12

I am surprised that the USA hasn’t required a GPF for years They have been fitted to loads of BMWs and Mercedes since 2018 in Europe.

    Oil for B58 Ineos Grenadier

Just because it has solid axles doesn’t mean there isn’t modern suspension. Multilink suspension, ZF dampers, Eibach springs and poly bump stopmounts and a panhard rod Just because it was designed to be robust and easily repaired doesn’t mean it’s not fitted with modern suspension It’s not...
