Oil for 2022 Kona N - LSPI or wear?

Mobil 1 0w30 AFE is API SP (unlike must of the ESP in stores) and just like in your car Alfa Romeo specifically specs a 0w30 API SP oil and many dealerships and owners use the AFE. The only LSPI damaged Alfa engine I saw was one running m1 esp actually....but that was also from 8 months ago or so.

    Amsoil Signature Series warranty discussion

When an engine failure occurs there can be several different paths to warranty reimbursement but in general they involve the following entities.... 1. Dealership diagnostic information (dealership employees) 2. Regional representative impressions (regional techs that work for the manufacturer...

Another X-20 vs X-30 Thread (sigh)

Follow your manual or obtain exceptions to it in writing from the manufacturer. For engine warranty claims, the manufacturer will almost always ask for proof of your compliance with the maintenance requirements which is generally invoices or receipts.

    Mobil 1 ESP X3 0w40 >FS 0w40

There is no maximum. I've done it a half dozen times. You buy it and can immediately return the filter. There's zero rules against it. I personally only use OEM filters so I return them. Others may want to use it

    Mobil 1 ESP X3 0w40 >FS 0w40

You sure can. That's the retail price and always has been... .... but you can buy 5 quarts and get a $17.99 m1 or kn oil filter for $42.99. you return the oil filter and you've paid $5.50 per quart. All the c8 guys do this. This special has been going for a year and a half now Just checked...

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

Tell that to general motors, ford motor company. and bavarain motor works or the founders of Detroit, the motor city, or the dude who came up with the enginecycle....I mean motorcycle....or merian Webster... A machine that produces motion or power for doing work. A gasoline motor. Electric motors.

    Mobil 1 ESP X3 0w40 >FS 0w40

You can get it for $5.50 per quart through AutoZone. I used to use it in my c8 track cars. It happens to be dexos 2.

Which oil to use on long term

Good good choice. I would also use the API SP in that engine that is of the type prone to LSPI although LSPI is seen less in Europe anecdotally API SP is backwards compatible with API SN. An API SN oil is not necessarily forward compatible ....it may or may not be

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

Which oils eliminate varnish buildup in all circumstances and engines then? I also stated I have a 230k mile 4runner that is a daily short tripper that receives 10k mile changes. Any ideas why it's not experiencing varnish?

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

I think you mean to say ALL oils can allow varnish buildup no? I don't agree that all API oils have engines experiencing varnish buildup and all non certified oils don't. The API certified Ravenol and even the 5 dollar a quart M1 I use in a 30k dollar engine even in racing conditions have...

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

It's also painting with a very broad stroke to say that API oils allow varnish to build up. Is that all API oils? Do all non API oils avoid varnish build up in all engines? Of course not to either question.

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

Recourse can be between any perceived aggrieved party and the identified respondent. In civil court that would be any (claimant) and the oil company would be the respondent. In a case where there was evidence to suggest a company intentionally sold a product that didnt meet certification and it...

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

And I was hoping to clarify to you that certifications absolutely are NOT irrelevant when it comes to recourse. One of the two reasons for certifications are oversight...recourse. Heck, if there are no certifications at all then you're not putting certifications on the bottle are you? I'd hope...

Questions for the “only oils with approvals!” crowd- API vs good oil engineering

The certifications absolutely do give you recourse. Many happen to be required to be on the bottle like API as well... ... but in the case of actual mamufarer certifications each oil formulation is issued a certificate number and whether on the bottle or not that formulation must meet the...
