Have You Used One Oil for the Life of a Vehicle?

I have a couple that have always received Mobil 1 0w-40. Of course, that oil is always changing, so it's not like the cars always had the same oil product in them.

What is the absolute best mainstream full synthetic oil?

The Supertech synthetic you're using is good oil. If you really want to spend a few bucks more, Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Ultra are great too.

    2019 Subaru Ascent - Castrol Synthetic 0W-20 - 3,409 Mi OCI

How does it run? The UOA does look really good. There's not a lot you can do at this point. 12,000 in most cars wouldn't be the end all. I recently went 15,000 on my Saab when life got crazy. It runs beautifully. I'd just keep doing those regular oil changes and try to enjoy the car. Is the...

    Volvo T5 5 Cylinder 2014, Acceptable Choices?

Yeah, my year can definetly have it too. There's a YouTube video with a Volvo tech showing the problem. Even the 4 cylinder engines had it the first couple years after they came out as they used the bad piston rings too. However, if I really want to use Mobil 1 0w-40 can anyone think of a...

    Volvo T5 5 Cylinder 2014, Acceptable Choices?

I recently added a Volvo S60 T5 5-cylinder 2014 to my garage. Less than 60k miles. I thought the 2014 year was out of the piston ring issues, but I guess it's not at all. I don't have enough miles since purchase to know for sure, but I don't seem to have a problem yet (fingers crossed). You...

Is 5 year old a problem with low miles?

I can't see myself ever able to sell them. However, I do have extensive spreadsheets with all the maintenance documented, so they would see the gap themselves.

Is 5 year old a problem with low miles?

Thanks for all the replies regarding the oil. :) The filters are both the synthetic variety, hopefully they aren't doing too poorly. If I start to drive them more often, I will change the oil and filters. Great replies!

Is 5 year old a problem with low miles?

I have two cars with Mobil 1 0w-40 in them. The oil was changed in each at around four and five years ago. One of the vehicles has about 150 miles during that time, the other has 1000 miles. Is this a problem? Can I leave it another year or two unless I start using the cars on a regular basis...

    M1 vs M1 EP

I will see folks say a particular Mobil 1 might have less than 10 percent PAO, 20 percent GTL. What is the rest (majority)? Traditional Group III? Is Viscom still a thing or is that no longer used? Thank you!

Should I change my motor oil (possible dirt)?

Thanks for all the responses. I still haven't fired it up but I think I will wait on the oil change. I realize it won't help with the dirt at that point, but I think I will go 6 months this time because in this old car when the oil thins down, I start to burn and leak some of it, so I will...

Should I change my motor oil (possible dirt)?

Hi There. Stupid me. ha. I had to change alternator on my old Nissan today. I had to remove dipstick to free the alternator, and I ended up leaving the dipstick out the entire hour with moderate wind and not an insignificant amount of dirt in the air. You think I need to change the oil in a a...

    New Mobil 1 FS 0w-40

I've checked again and at least one of the bottles was FS logo. FS is pretty small so I missed it previously. So now I have at least one quart of FS (perhaps 2) mixed with a few other quarts of pre-FS. Not sure if I need to change it out since I will probably go 16-17 months again on this oil...
