My experience 30 floors up during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake

Our Yard/Shop manager was there that day with you! I hadn't gotten out here at that time (~'90 for me) He said it was a pansy earthquake, he was in a friends basement in Anchorage for the '64 quake there. Another coworker said all the geologists where he worked at the time were watching the TV...

    Post your latest oil change

2011 Silverado with HD offroad and tow package, AFM active. 542,335 miles (3rd change since prior change-post). SupraTech 5W30 and Bestline additive (used latter since approximately 200,000 miles), WIX filter. Always change it hot, always treat any "breach" of engine interior practically like a...

    Speeding ticket

During CoVid (greatest traffic/driving episode ever!) you had to break 90-100 before CHP would bag you and then if you weren't a mouthy idiot, driving a rolling wreck or under the influence they'd tell you to back off some or write a traffic school/cheapo velocity on it. There was literally no...

Do engineers not make good money anymore?

That is key. You want more for the stamp of your approval if the failure is going to cost you your entire life's work...

    Post your latest oil change

I first saw/discovered it watching some projectfarm youtube vids back in the day. He built a test device for testing oils with input from an industry engineer, is pretty meticulous and doesn't do product endorsements or take sponsorships. BestLine in the test, mixed with oil, trounced the just...

Thread for photos that 100% do not violate any Terms Of Service, not political, not lewd, no gas price pics etc.

Probably a utility ROW paralleling the tracks they have to get over and direct overcrossing would be to steep for loaded trucks or slow them down enough to cause heavy congestion there...

Those were 43's. The 44's are brass though from recycling shell casings. If you got one of the very few left over planchettes in the bin strikes and it was in that condition it'd probably fetch north of $30K but it'll also stick to a magnet, so you'll know for sure in no time...

Post your latest small engine oil change

1954 :D Green one is first year of aluminum blocks, the '43 is an N still on its Army paint sprayer base. The B, from the layers of paint, is an Army surplus that was later acquired (by the guy I got it from) from an Oregon logging operation. I like old small engines, especially B&S!

2018 6.2 Chev gasoline engine failure

Did the source for those get changed? My local mechanic has a Tahoe in that's on its 3rd lifterectomy in about as many months. my 5.3 2011 has over a half million miles on them. My personal hypothesis on them is that a new supplier is making them (or the supply chain got screwed up) and there...
