new oil - cannot see level on dipstick !

Changed the oil on my 2011 Toyota Sienna yesterday using Pennzoil Full Synthetic 0w-20. The new oil is so clean I cannot see the level on the dipstick. When I worked on a towboat, I would chalk the surface of the measuring tape to check fuel levels. Anyone else solve this dilemma? RV

    CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE!

Once upon a time in the early 80's, I dated a woman who had a Datsun 280 Z. She mentioned that the car was hard to steer when she pulled into her one car garage, what could be wrong? Looked at the tires and they were low on air, just looking at them. Pulled out the pressure gauge, 12 psi...

    '11 Toyota Sienna slippery dipstick

greetings earthlings, I took Brian553's advice and put the dipstick in a pint bottle of ferric chloride, used for etching copper circuitboards. Lovely light gray surface, now easy to see where oil level is. Thanks, Brian553 RV

    Ninja 250r owners chime in!

I bought a '09 Ninja 250 in August 2013 for use as a track day/race bike. This coming season will be my third. It is a blast and I can put it into my '02 Honda Odyssey by taking off the windscreen. I also have a '96 Ducati 900 SS/SP for the street. The 250s are reliable as the day is long...

hydraulic clutch fluid instead of brake fluid

greetings earthlings, thinking of changing to a hydraulic fluid for my Ducati's clutch activation in place of using brake fluid, which absorbs water. Anyone got a suggestion for mineral oil based fluid? RV

Good substitues for Shell Advance Ultra 4/Ducati

Your air-cooled Ducati should have its oil changed every 3000 miles and filter changed every 6000 miles. Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 is near perfect and affordable when you buy it a gallon at a time. I have over 32,000 miles on my 1996 900 SS SP and follow the above schedule for oil & filter changes...

    Helmet & tires

How much is your head worth? You should also look into getting protective riding clothes, i.e., pants and jacket & gloves and boots. The pavement is very hard and your body is soft and brittle. Get the best protective gear you can because it's your life that can be saved by it. And wear it all...
