GM 1.5L Turbo - Help Me Pick an Oil!

91K miles?! VR&P. some here say it works. Give it a couple three 3K OC. It must sorely need it. Never had luck with Forum Favourites BUT! Can't doubt the ESP 0W30 looks worth a try seeing many favorable UOA/VOA and of course the certifications.

What does a stock Coyote 5.0 Mustang sound like?

Most youtube videos of new car test drives have an exhaust sound clip. I find the new Coyote DOHC lumpy and obnoxious. move video to 5min 35sec to hear exhaust. This has the dual mode exhaust. So quiet and loud. Not supposed to use trackmode/loud on the street. Tell that to the kids. How...

    Checks When Buying New Car

For those in negotiation, Never EVER give them an outrageous "Doc Fee" of 500, 600 or 700 dollars - which is so common now. It will still likely remain as a line item, but work to get most of it removed from transaction price or moved into the trade value padding

    Ethanol Adulteration

Adding Ethyl alcohol to fuel is one of the worse things done to gasoline in the past two decades. The second is garbage Chinese carburetors on ODPE. I'd rather have MTBE as an oxygenate - I don't recall problems with the car per se - though of course the compound is very bad when leached into...

    Checks When Buying New Car

I second the tire pressure adjustment. Factory or port tends to fill it to max side wall which is a BAD practice. Don't let them fill it with Jakes Cheep-o Pump and Run - go with the salesman for the fill up and dont tip-top it off in the hot weather - the evap canister doesn't like to be...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

Wow 50yr, you just brought back a name of a joint we used to hit as teenagers and early twenties in the 70's. We had that same chain up in Massachusetts; forgot all about it. Many times early on we never got carded for beer with the burgers. was this the joint that served peanuts in the shell...

    Microgard MGL57060 C&P

Oh boy, you are going to get your undies in a wad on this forum. I am the funny, happy old geezer until someone level personal attacks, then I bite back. I mention in post #7 above that I was "Not scolding User, just commenting for a general understanding. ... ." Then trying to understand...

Can you reset the OLM so it requires a call to Dad before the car will start again :)

I would suggest you be less cryptic and be more thorough with your questions so we are not wasting time playing "guessing games"

    Microgard MGL57060 C&P

There are multiple available grades of NBR some improved, including HNBR. Like I have stated before, I worry more about material spec and testing when supplied from certain "overseas" sources.

Very low mileage vehicle oil change interval?

IMO Don't change the oil. Drive it. Give it a good 20-30 mile highway run if possible. Change the oil and filter in the Fall _______________________________________________ note: the PCV is open to ambient conditions by the vent hose from the air filter housing to the valve cover or valley...

    Microgard MGL57060 C&P

In reading some of his posts, its appears the guy is a veteran of c&p. Sometimes it's hard to read between the (sparse) lines. Here, I didn't feel the need for hand-holding. Big issue here is the stiff adbv. That's a FAIL.

    Oil filter wasn't changed

Oh come on, I was with you for a while, but now this imagined scenario has gone to far. No biggie to throw a steak back on the grill if it's a bit bloody. Spitting on the food is criminal. Don't mess with my food. Now like with wood, if it's cut too short, you can't cut it longer. So if a...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

They skipped it. - Unless you were driving on slushed/salted highways in March and April. I bet @53' Stude here would love to cut this open for you if you mail it to him!
