2006 Jeep Wrangler- Which Mobil 1?

"not exactly in the "low cost" catagory lol" Thanks for the info. I really like the results I have personally seen from Mobil 1. I realize others have had good luck with other oils, but for me it is cheap insurance (at around $4 a quart for me). Thanks Andrew

2006 Jeep Wrangler- Which Mobil 1?

Cbird, I have the Rubicon Unlimited model with a manual transmission (6 speed). I think the dana axels and transfer case come with synthetic from the factory. Not sure about the 6 speed but I will have to check in time. I noticed the bottom of the truck (diffs and some of the suspension)...

2006 Jeep Wrangler- Which Mobil 1?

Ok, thanks. I did notice in the owners manual that the recomendation of 10W-30 for the I-6 and 5W-30 for the 4 cylinder. I use the truck & SUV in my wife's toyota van and like it. As long as it meets the requirements, I will start using it. At what mileage can I switch to mobil 1? I was going to...

2006 Jeep Wrangler- Which Mobil 1?

Thanks all for the info. My wife and I are really excited to own this truck. It is a real blast to drive. With that said it only has 200 miles on it. I was planning on changing the oil at 1,000 miles and running mobil 1 for the next 4000 and change again at 5,000. Does this sound ok? I was...

2006 Jeep Wrangler- Which Mobil 1?

I have the I-6 and want to use Mobil 1 due to availability and low cost, which grade should I choose? I want to stick with what the owners manual calls for so my choices would be: 10W-30 10W-30 Extended Performance 5W-30 Truck&SUV 5W-30 Which of these oils would provide the most protection? I...

1997 Lexus LX450 (Land Cruiser) and oil consumption

Why do you think that Auto-RX would help here? I have seen the inside of the engine and there is no sludge problem. The top of the motor was apart when they did the head gasket repair. Where is the oil going? Seems like it would show up as smoke if it was being burned. Thanks Andrew

1997 Lexus LX450 (Land Cruiser) and oil consumption

This is the inline 6 motor. I have owed this truck since it had 60k on it. Some signs the prior owner did not take good care of it. I had the head gasket replaced at 69k. It now has 96k on it and it uses a lot of oil (has since I got it). It seems to use about 1 quart every 1000 miles perhaps a...

1998 Toyota Sienna and M1 Truck & SUV

Hi, I have been using M1 10W-30 in my wife's van for about 40k. Would Truck and SUV be a good choice for the van also? I have used T&S in my other veichle and really like it. Seems to quite the motor a bit at idle (may just be me). Will the T&S hurt the gas mileage? Thanks Andrew

1998 Toyota Sienna- Flush cooling system

I dont have a FSM for this van. Does anyone know if there is a drain on the engine block? My Landcrusier has one but not sure on this van. I want to flush the radiator and engine and replace all the fluid with new anti-freese and RO/DI water. Thanks for the help. Andrew

    starting problem-1994 Ranger pickup

His is the 4.0 6 I believe the same as offered in the same year Explorer. I am not sure why the mechanic is having such a hard time figuring this out. They had the truck for over a month starting it regulary to try and get it to mess up so they could hook it up to their computer. I understand...

    starting problem-1994 Ranger pickup

My father-in-law has 180k on his ranger 4X4 v6. It has been a great truck since new. Recently it has developed an inter-mittent starting problem. Randomly, when you go to start it, it will turn over fine but will not start. It is defenately an electrical/spark problem and not gas related...

High Mileage oils- Just marketing or not?

"My suggestion is to start with HM 10w-40 of your choice. I'm partial to PZ's product as it's been a real winner in my engine. If you don't like it after a few K, then try a Delo". ToyotanSaturn, that is what I think I am going to do. Anything I can do to improve fuel mileage in this thing...

High Mileage oils- Just marketing or not?

From what I have found out, some of these trucks do consume oil, some don't. I have done a complete tune up, replaced PCV valve with factory replacement and it still consumes some oil with Around Town Driving only. That is what makes me think it is fuel dilution related. On trips of 1,500 miles...
