I think the most valid point he made was that he, nor anyone else knows what will happen with it in the years to come. I would say for sure though, if it keeps dropping price, people will buy it back up in a swarm and restart the bull rush increasing it's value once again. How long this goes on...
If you grind and scrub down the rust then apply something like Rust Kutter, you can convert what you see. Then hit it with rust converting primer and white paint. Not gonna be perfect but will help. If you want to neutralize it for cheap for the time being you could use CRC marine corrosion...
I bought a 94' E420 last June for $2300 w/180k that had been sitting for the majority of two years prior... I have driven it as my main daily driver since with no fuss and minimal work. It doesn't even have 2nd gear (bought it that way knowing I would manual swap it) and it still doesn't care...
I'd say the W124, I am biased admittedly as an MB enthusiast, but I would argue it as one of the greatest cars in many design/quality/reliability respects ever built...
Yea.. a lot oils unfortunately that I would normally find around are m.i.a currently
Supertech oils seem pretty good for the cost especially, and have shown good performance versus some top brands. I have still never seen their euro formula besides online however.
I am familiar with the bevo...
Pennzoil has definitely come into play on my own research, seems like it has surpassed the other players in the name brand mass market... Still having trouble finding it locally. Try to run oils I know I can find and not have to rely on internet orders only... unless the deal is right for bulk...
Almost a year later... figured it was time to update...
The C55 has been running Rotella T5 15w40 since end of summer, it has ran great on it and the oil consumption is definitely down. We don't see anything near freezing at least when I use this car, so the winter viscosity does not worry me...
Dyno Day went well but it was my first time and I was too focused on driving and working the software from my tuner, forgot to take a reading of oil temps...
Have another Track day May 2nd, have my digital temp gun ready to go in my auto bag.
Car put down 322hp/340tq (SAE) & 333hp/351tq...
Yea the jury is still out i guess on if there is or isn't an oil temp sensor, all the material i have found thus far suggest there is NOT...
Also correct, no oil pressure sensor or gauge is fitted but this one I plan to retro fit and could also add in temp sensor while at it. I will however use...
the MB II scanner I have does show 'oil temp' in live data readings but looking back at the m113 over the years, it seems like only the 99-02' m113's even had an oil temp sensor... So maybe it is guesstimating off another sensor or there in fact is one...? Not quite sure now tbh.
Wasn't getting notified of recent responses, sorry!
Yes I was considering trying the VR1 20w50. Either that or Mobil 15w50, comes down to whatever is a better deal at the time of change, only plan on running either in the warmer months.
I am currently running the Valvoline euro 5w40...
yea... it was NOT a good customer experience at all, but thankfully Walmart covered their butt's and issued a refund asap...
Sticking with Walmart or NAPA during sales, will be easiest and most efficient for me.
So.. been a while but still no update on the Mobil 1 Formula M 5w40... you can find the listing here which says 6 x 1qt:

You could risk it, but based off the info below I would like a verbal confirmation from them first before buying...
They stated...
