    Rotella T6 5W-40, 3,640 and 8,147mi, M-B 1995 E320

For reference, a T6 VOA is here. Took advantage of last year's Rotella rebate to get this oil into the inventory. My goals were: more ZDDP than the Mobil 1 10W-40 HM I had been using and at least marginally thinner oil. The 3,640mi sample didn't surprise me much. Given what I've read here...

    Which 40W? Feedback welcomed

The 5/27/2010 Mobil 1 Engine Oils chart showed 0W-40 edging out the HM oils for ZDDP, 5W-40 TDT having higher levels than 0W-40. VOAs last year on Mobil 1 10W-40 HM, Mobil 1 5W-40 TDT, and Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 showed the HM closely matching the published PDF, TDT lower (probably within any...

    Shell Rotella T6 5W-40

Caterham, No time to hunt the forums right now, but I think I've seen mention of Rotella T6 in a different viscosity north of the border. Raises the possibility that the formulation could differ, even for the 5W-40. Did Shell Canada technical service happen to mention if T6 was the same...

    Pennzoil HM 5W-30 VOA

So am I interpreting this correctly as one or more of: there are anti-wear/extreme-pressure components in the additive package which aren't part of what Blackstone is testing for and reporting the moly is expected to make up for loss of ZDDP for AW/EP purposes avoiding cat posioning has won...

http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS/NAXXENPVLMOMobil_1_High_Mileage_Oil.aspx The Mobil 1 HM 10W-40 and 10W-30 are both ACEA A3/B3/B4, and the HM 5W-30 has an HTHS viscosity that is 97% of the minimum required by the 2008 ACEA spec. They don't carry quite the amount of EP/AW additives...

Cheapest way to have a car?

At the risk of stating the obvious, I'll toss in a few from a different angle: a) Cheaper is what you can purchase with cash, so you avoid paying interest to someone b) Cheaper is a make/model where you have a local indie repair shop available that is skilled with the make, for the repair jobs...

Is the turkey baster method good enough?

Dan, I was pretty sure when I bought my 95 E320 that it had never been done (very black, no bottom of the reservoir in sight). Given all the BITOG discussion about gentle engine sludge cleanup, I decided to take an analogous approach with the PS system. I bought one of the inexpensive siphon...
