Changed transfer case after 15,000 & it was dark

Could be lots of clutch material from initial break in? Kinda like how your automatic transmissions magnet is always fuzziest at first pan drop, but not nearly as fuzzy with metal at the changes after.

Safe to use up my 5w30 in 5w20 spec vehicle?

Yes its safe 4.6l fords are the same deal. Some run 5w30 like they used to be specd for, some run 5w20 as ford specs now. I have two crown vics that one runs 15w40 and one has 20w50 in it. Both spend the summers redlining at the dirt track. You shal be good.

Gear lube, Marine verses Auto versions

I wouldnt sweat the difference too much. A good condition lower unit should not get any noticeable amount of water in the gear lube. So the hypothetical differences between marine and automotive gear lube in water emulsion and such shouldn't matter during normal use. Save your $ by purchasing...

    Rotation Confession

Some cars are easier on tires, some are harder If you drive a Twin I Beam Ford, rotations are mandatory. If you drive a Festiva with 12" wheels, I doubt it will care what you do with the tires All Wheel Drive cars can act up if you do not keep the tires properly rotated and inflated. Some...

Why are you still buying tires online?

Why do I read about SO MANY people buying tires online from Amazon, tirerack, etc? The ONLY way I see buying tires online possibly making financial sense is if you have the ability to mount, balance, and rotate them yourself for free. I cannot imagine this many people having their own tire...

    1995 Lexus LS400 Paint/NuFinish

Dont forget to re-apply in 30 days, per the instructions. I was skeptical about the having to re-apply thing at first, but it really makes the finish last, and boy will she shine. Did one of those unlimited car wash deals this past winter due to road salt (touchless wash) 72 washes later the...

    A Robertson tool

Most bowling lanes are installed using robertson screws If you have an impact driver, robertsons are a great choice for your fasteners used. Due to the tapered nature of robertson drive, the screw will lock onto the bit without any magnet needed. So you put your deck screw onto the bit, and it...
