Ekpolk, I haven't tried that yet. We are still in the "talking" stages on the car purchase. Thanks for the tip, I will look in the oil filler with a flashlight and let you know. I do know my stepfather has been pretty good about keeping the oil changed.
Matto.
I have an opportunity to buy a 1994 J30 in immaculate condition from my parents, who have owned it for 7 of its 12 years. It only has about 63K on the odometer. However, I don't think it has ever been run on synthetics-just old fashioned "dino" oil. Am I risking anything as far as seal damage...
I just bought 5 qts of GC at local AZ for $5.49/qt. which seems to be getting a bit steep. Just a month or so ago it was $4.99-$5.19. I will be able to cash in a "frequent buyer" gift card for $20.00 for buying $100.00 worth of stuff in the last couple months. Of course, it will most likely be...

To put an end to this thread, I went with the majority here and took the plunge. I went ahead and bought 10 quarts of GC. It will be stashed in the garage for at least 6 weeks before I do my first OC with it. Just changed my Safari Van oil 500 miles ago with M1. Will try it first in my Saturn...
SWHeat,
I will probably try out the GC when I change the oil next on the ION, which won't be until it hits 35K in about 6 weeks. Am I safe to assume the AutoZone will continue to carry this or do you recommend my buying as much of it as I can ASAP like some of the others who post here?
I have been using M1 5W-30 on both my vehicles since their first OC. Vehicle #1 is a 2002 GMC Safari Van, currently has 72K. Vehicle #2 is a 2004 Saturn ION with 32K. I usually buy a 5 quart jug at WM for $20.87 which works out to $4.17 per quart. I live in the St. Louis area, have found an...
