    Octane needed for no-stock engine

How do you determine which octane gas is needed for a non-stock engine? 93 EFI 302 making 325 rwhp. Just curious since I just got it running. If you need all the specs (head, cam, etc.) I will supply them. Thanks.

    0W oil in new engine

Thanks to everyone for all the info. Very informative and a lot of helpful info. One thing seems to be common-since I live in NC it is not absolutely necessary to run 0W. 5W should be sufficient if I read correctly. I think a lot of you feel the 10 psi rule is fairly good but as one of you said...

    0W oil in new engine

Thanks to everyone for all the info. It is most helpful for a real novice that never questioned oil usage before finding this sight last year. I should have supplied a little more info. The engine was a 1993 302 EFI GT engine that was in a 93 GT that was never titled or put on the road. It had...

    0W oil in new engine

I just finished rereading all the old posts on what weight oil to use. Finally got my new 302 efi roller engine installed and running in my 65 Mustang. I understand the break-in methods and the 10 psi per 1000 rpm thinking. I have decided to run a 0W20 oil after the short initial break-in. From...

    New guy,ancient question

I just went to the Amsoil site and read about their different oils. I am still trying to figure out what oil is best for me to use in a roller engine pulling about 350 rwhp. What I still do not understand is if it is 0W how any oil is left on the bearings at start-up. Like I said, if you know of...

    High performance engine break-in

    High performance engine break-in

I read an article last year you wrote about breaking in a new rebuilt engine. This is a high performance engine that will be installed next month. I cannot find that article. Can anyone help? It stated to run it hard for about 20 miles, then change the oil or something similar to that. Since I...
