Just bought a Yaris...break-in oil question.

I'm running 5w-30 GTX on my 07 Yaris at 6 month OCI's which are usually approx 3,500 miles.

Question regarding changing oil from 10W30 to 5W20

I think it's pretty cool to get a new Lexus engine from the stealership at 265k miles

Does 80% inner city commuting merit snythetic oil?

I actually own a 07 Yaris LB now ... got to change my user name.

Yeah, it's right at 6 miles one way and other trips to the grocery, etc... are usually less than 2 miles

Probably 80% or more of my travel is commuting in rush hour traffic. I only average approx 7k mile per year or 3,500 miles per OCI.

The pro's of PP versus the con's of FRAM filters

I'm an apartment dweller, so I rely on quick change oil places. In my neighborhood I can get a Penzoil Platinum oil change, but it comes with a FRAM filter. Is it worth it? Or, should I stick will a place that offers dino changes and other brands of filters?

Will I see >mpg changing from 5w-30 GTX to 5w-20M1

The greater majority of my trips are shorter than 6 miles, e.g, work, grocery, etc ...

There was supposedly a TSB issued suggesting 5w-20 in my 07 Yaris LB as opposed to the 5w-30 listed in the owner's manual. If I change, and go synthetic M1 or PP will I see an increase in mpg?

V6 Impala or 4 cylinder Malibu???

I don't see that significant of a difference in real world reporting between the 4 cylinder Malibu and the 3.5l Impala. As a matter of fact I regular read reports of 3.5 owners beating the EPA estimates.

V6 Impala or 4 cylinder Malibu???

The used 3.8l GP seems like a good deal. I like the 3.8, it's the rest of the platform of the Grand Prix that I'm not so crazy about.

V6 Impala or 4 cylinder Malibu???

The new Malibu has the 2.4l ecotec in the base model LS. It doesn't get near the fuel economy of the 2.2l from the last generation.

V6 Impala or 4 cylinder Malibu???

I'm surpised at the real world gas mileage numbers I've read on the Impala. The 3.5 V6 competes favorably with many 4 cylinders including Camry/Accord/Altima.

Thanks for your input. I'm leaning towards the Impala.
