    Air filter shelf life

Just got this filter from my local dealer and it looks very old... I couldn`t find any date on the box or filter itself, just a small code (B40312) that may relate to week and year? (week 03 year 2012?) just a wide guess I have no ideia... in fact it looks even older than that lol. Paper feels...

    Good 50wt oil ?

Thanks guys, I guess my issue is the current market here they only sell 20w50 mineral everywhere, since manual states 5w30 and 15w40 can be used, people who want semi-synthetic usually go this route and call it a day... I will look out for those, researching more I found this Motul 4100 here...

    Good 50wt oil ?

Hello everyone, I have an old 99 GM/Opel Vectra b w/ 110k miles that has a 4cyl 8v 2.2l (C22NE engine, same found in some Isuzu and 2.4l variation in old S10s) - Manual calls for API SJ or higher 5w30 or 15w40 or 20w50. I was using good synthetic 10w40 castrol but noticed it was burning way...

    Recommended oil following my specs

Kschachn, thanks once again for all detailed info, as stated above I am definitely getting a LL-01 in my next oil change, in fact I will probably do it this weekend. I was able to understand better after reading your comments and part of these articles below, but still don`t have a clear vision...

    Recommended oil following my specs

Well this is why I have problems understanding it.. I was thinking like, larger number on the bottle = thicker the oil is, even the first number standing for cold temperatures/winter it still a lower number = tinnier. Then I find innumerous information online were each one differs from...

    Recommended oil following my specs

I went to 4 stores today and current 0W-40 Pennzoil and Mobil 1 euro formulas does not meet LL-01 (pics below), they meet A3/B4 tough. I guess I will go with 5W-40 as I don`t like the idea of a 0 weight oil running in my high mileage sweating engine... Funny thing is, the only available 5W-40...

    Recommended oil following my specs

Wow thanks everyone for the answers! Either being 5W-30 or 0W-40 I will definitely use a LL-01 in my next oil change and skip all these aftermarket additives. Now breaking down the specs, LL-01 is basically ACEA A3/B3 that requires HTSH =>3.5 were Mobil 1 is A1/B1 with 3.1. I found all this...

Hello everyone, first post here; I find this forum very helpful, it is great to confirm and see proof of different oil brands, properties and quality that some times are mislead by the market/average customer, and this is what I am trying to figure out.. Following forums questions: 1. What kind...
