I concur; dumping it would be a waste of money. I use RL 10w-40 in a raced 94 LT1 Corvette with no oil cooler. I sustained 290+ deg temps for almost an hour, oil degradation at that temp for Mobil 1 is a non issue.

He said he has a "large" oil cooler in his massive list of mods. He must have been pushing it pretty hard to get it to that temp at those speeds with an oil cooler. Maybe it needs to be larger - I dunno. I've never run a car that souped up.quote:

In the 1960s cars (particulary Fords) had no gauges. There was just an oil pressure light, a temp light and a gen. light. My 1962 Ponitac even had a "cold" light that was on until the engine warmed up.quote:
