Given the "obvious" advantages of diesels, why is formula one going to KER (Kinetic Energy Recovery) systems ?

prolly because F1 is the racing equivalent to stop and go driving.

There's some very neat (and relatively simple) technology about to be introduced.

Has some interesting tribological requirements as well.

Shannow, do you have any links to any articles about the technical aspect of this change. Might be some fine reading if you do.

I bought a copy of "Race Tech" magazine
http://www.racetechmag.com/

because the featured articles were the Kinetic Energy Recovery systems and biofuels in motorsports.

Been reading that, and haven't looked up anything on line as yet.

Key word you might like to look up
* variator
* Xtrac
* KERS

There's another copy at the newsagent. I could prolly get it to you for $15.

Hmmm... I'll try those key words. Thanks so much.

I pulled up that site. I had NO idea that those mags were quite so pricey!! I guess it's all relative though, if you want the correct information, and the most up to date, then one must ante up, right?

Do you need company on that island of yours?!?

Was $9.95 at the newsagent.
Hotrod is around $13.

And the information in Race Tech isn't another SBC/Turbo700 build-up (not that there's anything wrong with that for the 800th time).
