- Esso XD-3 0w40
- Rotella T synthetic 5w40

I believe, although some data is outdated, that they all have a HT/HS of 4.20

I've heard that the XD-3 can shear a lot, as well as the duron.

Boy that's a tough one. I can't easily get XD-3 or Duron down here so I don't have much first hand knowledge on their shear stability. I would guess that the Duron shear a bit less than XD-3. You could search the UOA section here as there are a few XD-3 UOA's floating around.

The RTS is fairly shear stable even in HEUI engines like the Navistar and Ford diesels. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of those oils, they are all pretty decent. The XD-3 has some advantages in cold weather over the other two.

All of those oils should perform well in your D12, if that's your plan.

Go with the Esso 0W-40. I wish we could get it here in the states
