Rotella T CJ-4 15W40 VOA

This is the oil I am running in my Dodge Cummins 5.9L.

Man, that's a whole heap more Ca than the 10W-30 version of that same oil:

Shell Rotella T 10W-30 CJ-4 API SM VOA

(I've asked Patman to correct my VOA, there was really 29 Boron in it, not 0 as I have right now).

I did not realize until pointed out on another forum, looks close to CI-4 Rotella T. This has more Boron, slightly less Phos.

...and also my 10W-30 VOA linked above has 900 ppm of P and 1000 ppm of Zn......you've got about 100 ppm more of P and about 200 ppm more of Zn.

Blend and sample deviations could explain some of that, but to me it looks like the 15W-40 Shell Rotella T CJ-4 has a hardier add pack.

I wonder though, mine was for sure rated API SM, was your 15W-40? Maybe their both CJ-4 but yours is SL while mine is SM??? That's the only thing I can think of...

I just checked... I have the open gallon jug that the sample was taken from. API CJ-4/SM.
