Plasma Enhanced Combustion

Molakule,
wasn't Smokey Yunick playing with a plasma ignition system at some stage ?

Good site that you link to. Will aid me no end (and save many trees) when people at work ask questions.

Was it Mitsubishi who were looking at using microwaves in the Combustion Chamber to improve I.C. engine performance ?

Interesting link. Will take me time to take in. Regarding Smoky, he had some interesting ideas regarding how an engine should work. Among many, he had a reverse flow cooling system, and a gasoline "vapor" design engine, which he claimed to be much more efficient. He also was quite a character, once saying that the current (at that time) automakers were "making an 18 year old virgin out of a 90 year old woman", or something to that effect, in reference to the current internal combustion engine.

plasmas will soon have their time in the sum (ha ha ha)... I am involved in studying their use for reformation of sulfur-laden HC fuels for hydrogen production. The important part is that they are catalyst free.

Its essentially a non-catalyzed CPOx reformer.
