Hey, realize that most people don't care enough for Castrol to care. Hopefully GC and American 0w-30 = Castrol LongTec of the UK. Time will tell....

Geeze Doug I was only kidding. As much crap as I get and I make one stupid joke and there goes Doug's skivies gettin' all bunched up

It is true what the tech told me. The guy WAS wrong at the time....

The term "Mate" has a COMPLETELY different (wholly platonic), connotation in Australia - and is NEVER used in the same sentence as "Bugger".

Hey Pablo, hang in there buddy ,Castrol has made a ton of money lying and cheating the consumer. I wont use any of there products, because i know there are better ones out there, Amsoil being one of them.

Hi,
Geeze I didn't know you wozz joking Pablo, well maybe.......................! But then so was I because when I ask the Amway lady "...can I buy your lubricants?" she just gives me a wink!!!

Pablo - I'll tuck my skivvies in if you tell your Amsoil buddies to behave on the Internet and improve their Marketing. Just teach them a lesson Pablo!

Yes Ted you are correct, and still my platonic Mate!!

Sadly the BP takeover of Castrol was a painful process and for those of us that have used their products for over 50 years a reaql tragedy
Their excellent synthetic gear oils and ATF sold here are still the same stuff - if the name or colour changes they will have lost me as a customer

The latest Formula "R" synthetic engine oils sold here do seem to to perform well

I personally don't like Castrol. To much marketing BS and they are spread all over the place. Not sure that translates into good QC. They don't even have a grip on what the differences are among their own products! I'll pass. I don't want to participate in a treasure hunt in search of oil.

but buster,

I know where the treasure chest is...no hunting required...and it is always filled with Gold!

Pablo - if you do we will have to adapt our terminolgies accordingly. I will support you of course but you just are "ideal" for Amsoil. Stick with it don't leave a great product behind!!!

Seriously, BP make some excellent products and have the very best Truck Stops here in OZ.
They have invested enormous amounts here in retailing just when EM want out of retailing to become a wholesaler/supplier and gas/oil field developer. Co-incidence???

The original BP Visco-static range of multigrade oils were world leaders in the dim dark past

Doug, let's try and be positive. Shell's takeover of Pennzoil/Quaker State has so far proven to not have reduced quality. I can't see BP destroying Castrol's long reputation for quality to save a few dollars. I'm hopeful that it won't be so negative, but could have positive influence. Of course, you have a lot more insight than I do.

Castrol is a huge seller here. If they changed the name, sales would drop like a rock.

Hi,
haley10 - It was sad that the Castrol way of doing business here in OZ was decimated (along with many talented people) in the most painful way. I do not see any benefit for the consumer and now after some years there obviously won't be any

Castrol was always a small bit player and could not get shelf space in most branded Service Stations for decades - since the 1960s. They were always the most "asked for" oil - due to Motorsport and advertising. They started to retail fuels and established their own Service Stations here about 1990

The buyout like all of them was/is always a numbers game. Castrol were innovative specialist lubricant manufacturers and the end result was many excellent products. Those days are now over as the independent Tech Divisions are gone - it is now joint Engineering. We may be beneficiaries - I sincerely hope so

Regards
Doug
