Something thick had to be added to the oil to turn it into a 50 weight. I highly doubt it's soot or oxidation thickening.

Hammer

Plus, if I remember correctly, weren't the 03 PSDs the 6.0?

6L PSD engines are oil-eating monsters, and most Schaeffer's 15w40 reports I've seen dropped into the 11-12cst range.

Or, was 15K too long for this oil? Perhaps it had reached the end of its lifecycle and was suffering from severe oxidation?
