This blackstone report is from a 2003 GMC duramax with 45,000 miles on the truck. This OCI run was 5,000 miles. I wanted to see how well the AFE Pro Guard air filter was doing. I had previously been using the "blue" AFE filter and felt uncomfortable with it as I drive in dusty new construction areas. I also did a LOT of ideling in this run...to the tune of 18 hours one day.

Looks like the air filter did its job. Blackstone sugggested going to 6,500 miles oci.

A great oil in what is proving to be a superb engine.

I'm impressed!

I wish my Dmax was seeing copper levels like yours.. last UOA at 47k (7.5k on the oil) was 10ppm.. Some have suggested the Oil Cooler is the source of the copper. Other levels including SI are similar to yours using the AC paper filter and D1 or M1 T&SUV ... Based on what others are reporting I might try a run with DELO 15w40 this spring...

The copper levels on my 2001 Duramax dropped from 20 at 15,000 miles down to 3 at 43,000. My moly level was 275 at 43,000 using Delo with a 4000 mile oci. I've only used Delo since new.

On my '03 Dodge/Cummins, approx. 40,000 miles, Chev. Delo-400, 15X40 CI-4, Stratopore (Fleetguard) oil filt., AFE ProGuard-7 filter & 8303 miles on the oil, showed 5 also on the silicon.
I live in the desert (Phoenix, AZ.), dusty environment.
Expected silicon to be higher. The PG-7 seems to work.

The silicon on my last 7500 mile OCI was 2. The Proguard 7 seems to do a good job at filtering. However, my filter minder shows alot of restriction, even after a cleaning. It seems that there isn't enough filtering surface on there cone filters.

cak446,
I have an '03 Dodge/Cummins, HO & had the same problem with the "filter minder".
It's not the restriction in the filter but, the "filter minder", itself. They put too weak of a spring in it. The factory installed the wrong unit.
I had the dealer install the correct one & it seems to work, much better.
Hope this helps.
