No TBN or VIS reported :-( Might have to change oil labs.

I'd suggest sending future samples to Butler Labs...they'll do a much more complete profile including chemical properties.

I'd really want to know the equilibrium levels of water and fuel under these conditions, as that's probably what's driving the oxidation rates. You might consider a bypass filter to remove some of the liquid contaminents.

The general wear pattern looks okay, but it's hard to correlate to another 3406E application. I guess you could consider it analogous to approx 1000 miles of OTR truck service @ 75 mph; pulling max load.

I would expect this wear rate to significantly decrease if this thing ran more frequently.

the wear is mostly startup wear if the engine is run more the wear due to startup would be the same. A question,what is the rpm upon start up ?is it full rpm.

Hi,

this type of engine at this utilisation can benefit from a Vapour Phase Inhibitor (VPI) type lubricant
These are designed for such applications and one in particular stands out;

Castrol's AGRI TRX 15w-40

Doug
