Did first OA at 13,609 miles, ran the factory fill for 3000 miles and changed to Shell Rotella T 15W-40 to this point. I then ran Schaeffers 7000 series for almost 3000 mile but had to have a head gasket replaced. I found my truck in the bay with antifreeze standing in the cylinders, Story to long to post here. They drained the Schaeffers and put in motorcraft 15W-40 which I ran for a short while and did not bother with an OA. I now run Schaeffers supreme 9000 5W-40. Its first OA will be in the second post. Let me know what you think.

This is the Schaeffers Supreme 9000 5W-40
Wonder why they found a trace of antifreeze in the oil sample?

Good ole 6.0. Sheared you right down to a mid 30 weight in under 6000 miles. My Amsoil AMO 6000 mile run just edged you out it held at 64 SUS. Once I get my monies worth out of the Rotella 5w40 thats in it I'm going to do a fill of Amsoil ACD 30-10w30 and see how the vis. holds.
They will probably start using our 6.0 engines for the HTHS ASTM testing units. Nice insolubles on both reports.

Yes this 6.0 is tough on oil, I did hear that they changed HP oil pumps in 05 though. I guess I should of said I worked the truck really hard towing with the Schaeffers run. The Rotella T run was without any towing at all.

Very nice report on the Schaeffers 5W40. Your wear numbers are excellent for this type engine under load. Silicon is extremely low, (starts at 14 with anti-foaming additive) and the insoluables are very low.

I am waiting for one other member to post his UOA on the Schaeffers 5W40 in a 7.3 PSD then I may switch to this oil instead of the 15W40 Schaeffers.

any more input on the schaeffers 5w40? i am currently running this in a race car and would like to get some opinions on the oil.
Thanks!

the car has lower oil temps than the previous fill, which was a 15w50. the car is run extremely hard for 30 minute sprint races, i have seen oil temps of 250ish...now with 5w40 the temp has not gotten above 235ish.....

i have only done about 1.5 hours of running time with this oil but it did happen to be the hottest part of our Ohio summer....it is difficult to judge engine sound because the car extremely loud at speed and i wear earplugs....the rev's are a tad quicker, i would attribute that to the lower viscosity?
i am eager to run a UOA and judge the results...then i can establish some patterns over the rest of the season.

i would be very interested in seeing those or any others...i want to see if this oil is the "magic elixir" for my usage....
