++++++++++

Analysis was done by OAI. Vehicle is driven mostly city mileage; 40% CARB D-2 diesel; 60% Arco ECD-1 ULSD. Oil was the factory fill; looking at the manufacturing date, looks like the oil was in the crankcase for almost 12 months.

Comments? Thanks...

Not bad for factory oil, but it shows why many people change out the first batch a few times by 5K.

I assume it to be the proprietary Syntec 5W-40 or 5W-30... but don't know for sure

VWOA recommends 5K interval for first 10K miles, then 10K thereafter. "Conventional wisdom" (at least over at Fred's TDIClub) is to not short-change the factory fill... thanks for the look.

Yeah, thats what they say. I myself changed at 2,500, 5,000, and will be changing again tomorrow at 12,000 and sending in the smaple for analysis. Then 20, 30, etc...

I hope I avoided those numbers by changing my oil sooner in my TDI.

I have a 2002 Golf :)
