I hear about ppl's manual transmission "popping" out of gear on it's own. I often wonder what goes wrong. Even more, I wonder WHY a manual transmission stays "in gear" (not the actual gears meshing, you know what I mean).
What keeps a manual tranny in gear?

From my experience, if the trans pops out of gear, it is worn out.
