Is it OK to mix brands of ATF? I know that you should generally avoid mixing engine oil brands, due to different companies additive packages not "working and playing well with others". Is this true for ATF too?

A little less critical with ATF. Of course mix compatible types, but brands usually won't fight...
As I only perform drain and fills, never a flush, every time I do it for the first time on a transmission it is mixing ATF as I use Amsoil. I have not had a problem in 10 years, about 5-7 different cars since then
That is why I asked... I am a "drain and fill" person too.
