It's like Valvoline synthetics were up until about a year ago, and Royal Purple and some Ravenol oils too. Kind of common really. I think some sodium compounds are anti-wear, anti-ox, detergent, extreme pressure, all to some extent, possibly mult-function, formulator's choice to use them. Sodium is going out of style due to LSPI concerns these days though. Should never use sodium+calcium really, to keep LSPI at bay.
