Longest you'd extend oci on a 15W-40 HDEO, on a GAS engine?

I understand.

You need to know if the engine is in good mechanical shape (no coolant, fuel or silica intrusion). If that were true, then 16,000km OCIswould likely be safe. However, the only way to know that these contaminants are in control, is to test the lube. You're kind of in a pickle here. You want to make a safe decision, but you're not in a position to willingly pay for the info.

Can't help you if you cannot help yourself.

I have a chevy 2007 w/t 4.3 v6. I am on my second run of 4 qts 15/40 and 1 qt 10/30 delo 400. I like it because I do find the engine runs quieter. I do 10k miles. I have over 220k miles on this truck. I hope to keep it at least to 250 k miles.

I'm back!

I believe it was BrocLuno whom i once asked if it would be fine to run a real Diesel oil, without gasoline specs in an older gasoline engine.

The thing is i've found what seems like a really awesome oil that i can get locally which is Shell Rimula R6M....

10W-40 Full syn. HDEO
TBN = 15.9
S. Ash = 1.9%

And i've seen UOAs of this oil on the Russian equivalent of Bitog which is Oil-Club.ru which show consistently over 1400ppm of Zinc and over 4000ppm of Calcium!!

When i asked Broc if it would be fine to use an oil like this in my car/s he said it would be totally fine.

They are old enough that i have no emissions equipment to worry about...

The oil i am using now has 1.45% S. Ash and have experienced no problems with plug fouling.

What are your thoughts? it seems like all i could ever want from an oil, 1400ppm of Zinc means i can forget about flat tappet cam wear, and a full synthetic oil with 4000ppm of Ca ought to do some cleaning.

Out of curiosity, what ACEA specifications does it have? Generally, I'm comfortable with a diesel lube provided it's not a locomotive, marine (i.e. big ship) or two stroke diesel only lube.

Does it least a year for the E specs and/or what's the date on the data sheet? ACEA E specs are baselined on the C spec of the time, so it'll certainly be more advanced than CF, one would think.

4000ppm of Ca...hmmm...thats rather poor...

Nothing beats cleaning abilities of a quart or two of ATF fluid in a sump LoL

Will it work in your gasser...sure...why not?

It'll be just fine. If it were a Petro-Canada or Mobil lube, they'd probably have a "Suitable For" section there with SJ or something like that.

I'm not sure my Escort's engine which has been on mineral oils it's whole life and is not very clean inside would like a full synthetic oil with a very strong additive package, maybe it would be a bit too agressive?
I was thinking of mixing it with the mineral Rimula R4X i am using, maybe try 20 or 25% R6M and the rest of R4X, maybe the next change 50-50%.
