Costco Gas - Very much worth the membership cost.

So I recently purchased my first warehouse member club membership at Costco ($60 for myself + spouse) for just the basic membership, for a few months never really considered using them for fuel as I did not imagine they would be much cheaper than the QT I usually fill up at. Yeah I MAJORLY regret that now - where I am at (Atlanta) CostCo even beats the price leader QT by a good 50 cents per gallon on both regular and premium and it is only maybe ~2 miles further drive than the QT I previously went to - the $8-9/tank I save on my 2x per month fill easily pays for the membership cost. It is a top tier fuel and my CostCo they must turn those tanks over regularly as the place is always a zoo unless you hit it early in the morning.

I will say my savings are based on very low mileage driving (~500/miles month MAX) so the savings could even be greater if you pile the miles on. What were regular $51-52 fillups are now $42-43 fillups once the gas light comes on, I am definitely a happy camper.

If you have a CostCo convenient to you would highly recommend price comparing. Only downside if you are one to run mid-grade is they only offer regular unleaded (87) and premium (93) at the one closest to me, I would guess other CostCo are probably similar.

I get gas at costco ever chance I can get. Their fuel is top notch and the cheaper cost is a huge benefit. Our local costco goes through about 3 tank loads of fuel per day (about 27,000K gallons).

We have a pretty wide spread in fuel costs here, $2.33 to $2.71 for 87. Usually a much smaller spread. I think the wholesale cost plummeted and some stations are holding out for more.

While you're at it, shop costco online. I joined to get a quick-jack real cheap and bought some other Xmas stuff cheaper than amazon. You have to log in to see some prices but it's worth it. I've never set foot in a store.

around here all the warehouse clubs are usually around 10cents cheaper.. and the local stations somewhat pricematch them.

Top tier + gas for the same or a few cents less than generic brands. If lines are super long I won't wait..otherwise 5 minutes or so is worth it to me. Those complaining about no mid-grade..Simple...make your own Split the two grades. Sure a minute extra running your cards again but no bigee....

I concur with OP. No one in my neck of the woods price matches Costco. There is always a disparity of price. I joined Costco specifically for the Top Tier Fuel. Sams fuel is good, but not Top Tier. Personal preference! Always a line at Costco, never at Sam's.

I filled up the avalanche wed, price was 2.09 gallon. Other stations were 2.39-2.49 gallon. I was on empty and going to costo anyway so it was worth 5 minutes in line. The avalanche holds 30 gallons, took 27.5 to fill.

If you are not turbocharged and are at altitude?...your cars are calling for 85 octane with no concern at all. All the regular gas in my county is 85 octane (6000+ ft ASL) and it runs fine.

Crazy isn't it! I honestly didn't believe it when I first saw it on gas buddy, but now 2 months and 5 tanks later it has consistently been 50 cents/gallon cheaper. I haven't filled up in ~1.5 weeks, since gas has dropped more the spread is a little less now at @ ~.28/gallon. ($2.04 vs $2.32 for Premium).

The counties in the Atlanta metro are kinda crazy when it come to what I am guessing are the fuel taxes. Just buying regular gas you can find the gas station closest to the county line in Fulton County and it will always be .20-25 more than if you cross the DeKalb County line 1/4-1 mile away - the closest crossing to DeKalb county for me is 10+ miles away so I burn a gallon of gas to get cheaper gas over there.

In this neck of the woods Costco saves you at least .30 a gallon on both Diesel and Gas. When I'm home that where I make all my fuel purchases.

Here your wait would be 15 minutes if you got unlucky. Usually in and out in ten minutes or less. Our Costco has 10 lanes and both gas and diesel.

I've never checked here, but they are supposed to be cheaper. The location and hours preclude me from filing there, though. Some point out waits. I don't wait for gas and never would. Given the times of day I usually fill up, I'm pretty spoiled and never have to wait.

I've looked at gas buddy before and have never these huge gas savings at Costco vs other stations in the area.

Though I'm a member I never buy gas at Costco! I can get $0.03 off Petro Canada with my Visa and another $0.05 with petropoints so I don't see the need to line-up. Also people that fill up at Costco near me say that they don't get the mileage that they get with other top tier brands, they don't say why and I didn't ask since I don't use it, but perhaps they don't get it from a top tier company, I don't know.

Regular stations are $2.40 ISH
Cosco $2.30

Filled at the Indian Casino for $2.14

Normally Kwik Trip 88 is a dime cheaper than Costco

Seeing out of state gas prices is depressing. Paid $3.19 for 91 octane Costco. Thought it was a good deal. Chevron is $3.55 Costco usually $0.30-$0.40 cheaper for top tier.
